ART IS HELL

is a collaboration between Tony Calzetta and Gabrielle de Montmollin, 2 artists living and working together in Toronto, Canada.

This booklet of photocopy art was created by ART IS HELL to be distributed for free as part of FREE MANIFESTA, an open exhibition of nonmonetary artworks held in Frankfurt am Main, Germany May 24 - August 25, 2002.

The booklet was distributed at 2 locations in Toronto, Canada as well as at the FREE MANIFESTA booth in Frankfurt am Main. In addition, the booklet was mailed (free of charge) to anyone who requested it in response to an offer posted on this web site.

FREE MANIFESTA was a project of artist Sal Randolph and was an official participant in the European biennial MANIFESTA 4. It was intended as an experiment in creating a social network of artists, a gift economy which then can act as an alternative to traditional forms of exhibition in commercial and institutional contexts.
